Razored long layers with a face frame is a hairstyle you can always go right with. It may not look like much, but even the smallest changes to a haircut can impact it. A hair color to highlight your haircut is essential; a money piece (face-framing highlight) will pair well with a face-framed layer or bang. Blow dry your hair with a round brush to get the ends of your layers flipped out and shaped nicely around your face. Long wavy layers paired with face-framing highlights help add some depth to your hairstyle.

Then, trim your layers according to the length and angle you mapped out earlier. Unclip the frontmost section of your hair (the bangs), and pull your hair straight out at a 90-degree angle. Use your forefinger and middle finger to hold your hair in place. Henson opted for choppy layers and thick, side-swept bangs to create an anled bob that looks full, not frumpy.

Ensuring the hair and scalp are clean is the key to doing this correctly. So make sure your hair has been recently washed and is free of all products. “I don’t think there is a one-size-fits-all rule for body positioning while layering,” says Shannel. It’s ultimately up to you to find what’s most comfortable.

But I also like curling my hair and wearing it for certain occasions.” That gives your stylist a great idea of which layers will suit you best. A messy layered cut with a dark-rooted blonde and brown balayage will freshen up fine tresses! The perfect textured layering for long thin hairstyles does exist. This hairstyle for long hair also suits a naturally wavy texture.

” Layers have very different effects on each hair type, you see. And when we know how you picture day-to-day life with your new layered cut, we know how to customize it for you. In addition to the above statement about your routine, be prepared to discuss your desired outcome. I’d also like something to make my eyes stand out,” gives that stylist a lot of great information.

That means those scissors in the sewing basket won't make the cut. You will also need a cutting comb, cape, well-lit mirror, hair clips, and a blow dryer, which can all be found at your local beauty supplies store or online. The feathered haircut is perfect for adding texture and a sense of softness to an otherwise boring hairstyle. It involves cutting the hair at an angle, creating a gradual disheveled, airy layering effect. You may even want to begin your layers at the shoulder if you have long hair. However, keep in mind that your hair will shrink after it dries. Both the feather haircut and the layer cut may seem similar. It is important to keep the pros and cons of this hairstyle in mind when making your decision. Its versatile nature continues to add to its popularity even today.

Kim adds that this soft layering will help give fine hair the illusion of volume. Now that you've made a loose face-framing shape, we will use point cutting to fine-tune our layers. Half shag, half mullet, the wolf cut took 2022 by storm and is here to stay. Kim particularly likes this layered cut for people with naturally curly and short hair. “You can really layer [this cut] and even add a fringe to give it shape and style,” she says. With all the lockdowns and stay-at-home orders that have happened this year, people haven't been able to make it to their hair salon as often as they'd like. Despite the risks of cutting your own hair at home, a lot of people have given it a try.

#58: Copper Long Layers with a Middle Part

I notice people making the same mistake when it comes to blow-drying layered haircuts for long hair. It’s widespread to focus on your roots instead of your ends. Starting at your roots reduces heat damage to your ends. The easiest thing to do is blow dry your roots all over your head first. If your hair is fine—or you struggle with getting your blow-out to last all day—consider investing in sectioning clips.

#9: Beautiful Long Layers and Curled Tips

A stylist can easily adjust the density of your cut by texturing and reducing bulk. Face-framing cuts are one of the most popular layered haircuts for long hair. Try long feathered hair if you have thick hair and want to add movement.

The one thing all layers have in common is that they don’t add volume. Layers reduce weight and bulk from the interior of your hair. A blunt cut looks best when parted and styled one specific way. Layered haircuts, however, can be parted and styled in any way you like. Whether you have straight hair, thick hair, curls, coils, or waves, the right layered haircut will make your hair look amazing.

While both these styles serve different purposes, they complement each other well and can be combined to create a multi-layered haircut with feathered ends. However, one must note that this haircut will look great only on long or thick hair. So, if you have short hair, it is recommended to let your hair grow out to help you achieve the desired look. Fox's wavy brunette situation can easily be achieved with a medium barrel curling iron. Patiently curl your hair piece-by-piece and maintain the length by cutting layers past the shoulders.

Style As Usual

The number of layers can always be customized to suit you and your lifestyle, so don’t be afraid to ask your stylist about your options. Opt for a u-shaped layered haircut for long hair to keep hair bouncy while maintaining length. This cut works best on thicker hair as it removes much bulk from your ends. Look at this hair makeover with a cascade of long v-cut layers using the step-cutting technique. Trendy long layered tresses like this v-cut on long hair add dimension and body, which is perfect for women with thinner hair.

Medium Fine Hair: Square Layers

This style is layered with bangs, but you can also just trim the ends of your hair using the same technique. However, whether you should do a wet vs. dry cut really just depends on your hair type. If your hair is naturally frizzy (mine is), then it may be beneficial to straighten or curl you hair prior to cutting if you’ll be cutting it dry. This allows me to see how it looks finished right away and make any adjustments if need be. It’s a common complaint of clients with thick hair that they feel heavy or weighed down.

How To Cut Layers On Curly Hair

You’ll love this long hairstyle with visible layers because it adds movement and dimension to your look. With just the right amount of layering, this hairstyle provides a touch of elegance while still maintaining length. It works best for those who want to keep their long hair but crave a change and added texture. Layers can remove excess weight without sacrificing length, which makes this a great style for those with thick or heavy hair.

"Octopus" Haircut

Try long layers on your white, blonde hair if you want to add some movement to your hair. If you’re going to get the most out of your haircut, style with a round brush or a blow dryer brush to create bends and movement in the layers. I suggest using a blow dry spray, such as Amika’s Brooklyn Bombshell, to help cut down blow dry time while helping keep holding your style. Roszak likes hidden layers for short fine hair, as they add movement, volume, and texture.

how to cut layers in long hair

Extremely layered hair is a beautiful hairstyle if you have thick hair. Ask your stylist about the required product and hot tool to recreate your look at home. Long-length layers cut at an angle helps to keep fullness throughout your hair.

Short layers for long hair give you a feathering look that’s effortlessly stylish. The best part about this haircut is all the movement and body it has while still keeping the length. Ask your stylist to do a razor cut for a lot of the interior layering, then clean up the perimeter with their shears. Short layers on long hair work for women with medium-density and medium-textured hair. This shape is good for ladies with round-shaped faces because it elongates your face.

Both the layer cut and the feather cut can make your hair look healthy and voluminous. However, it ultimately boils down to your personal preference. If you are looking for something that is edgy yet low-maintenance, the feather cut might be the best pick. But if you want something timeless and versatile, the layer cut might be your best bet. Remember to keep your hair texture, type of hair, and face shape in mind before going for the hairstyle of your choice. Therefore, it is important to weigh the pros and cons of this hairstyle before going for it.

Try round brushing or curling your shorter pieces away from your face if you can. The key is to start small with a few careful snips — and to go slow. You can always take more hair off, but you can't add back what you've already chopped! If you're cutting your hair while it's wet, remember it will look even shorter once it dries, so snip with extreme caution.

Hair Loss Alopecia: Causes, Symptoms, and Regrowth Options

why am i losing so much hair female

However, studies show that more than 50% of people assigned female at birth will experience noticeable hair loss. The most significant cause of hair loss in women is female-pattern hair loss (FPHL). This affects about 30 million people in the United States. Being gentle with your hair while it’s experiencing change is important so as not to exacerbate any thinning. It goes without saying that excessive heat and chemical treatments aren’t a good idea, but try and opt for protective hairstyles too. “Opt for hairstyles that minimize tension on the hair follicles, such as loose braids, buns or ponytails,” advises Gaboardi.

Coping with traumatic hair loss

Instead, aging causes your hair follicles to eventually stop growing hair. Going gray also changes the structure of your hair as it loses pigment that gives you hair color. The result is graying hair that eventually turns into fine, white hair.

Hair loss is not usually anything to be worried about, but occasionally it can be a sign of a medical condition. It is worth noting that this method is unlikely to benefit or help people with scarring alopecias. They may also order blood tests to check for any nutrient deficiencies or signs of an underlying condition. You can search by location, condition, and procedure to find the dermatologist that’s right for you.

Conditions That Can Cause Body Hair Loss

When you start to shed more strands — and fewer or none grow back — the condition is considered alopecia (hair loss). There are several types of hair loss, and it can affect adults of any gender and even children. You may lose hair just on your head or from your body as well. It's typical to lose some hair every day as part of your hair’s usual growth cycle. For most people, the lost hair grows back, and you maintain a full head of hair. But illness, hormonal changes, stress, aging and inherited conditions can interfere with your hair’s growth cycle.

But some hair loss is normal for everyone and at every age. If you are concerned by the amount of hair falling out, you don’t need to suffer in silence. These doctors specialize in diagnosing and treating the skin, hair, and nails. A dermatologist can tell you whether you have hair loss or excessive hair shedding. Most people notice the excessive hair shedding a few months after the stressful event. For example, a new mom can see excessive hair shedding about two months after giving birth.

This April marks Stress Awareness month in the US, a calendar moment designed to raise awareness of the pervasive and damaging nature of stress. "Vitamin B12 deficiency often causes hair loss as it can affect the health of red blood cells, which carry oxygen to your tissues" says Anabel. "It's most common in vegans as you can primarily only obtain B12 through animal proteins." A hormonal imbalance can lead to multitude of annoying health and beauty issues, from adult acne to weight gain. If your hormones are out of whack the effects will radiate throughout the whole body (and of course, that includes your hair).

If your hair starts to thin or fall out in clumps, call your healthcare provider or dermatologist. They can help you figure out what is causing hair loss and how to help treat the root issue. Minoxidil usually needs to be used long-term to prevent hair loss and promote hair growth. When the treatment is stopped, hair loss will begin again within 12–24 weeks. Chemotherapy, certain other drugs and radiation treatments can prompt hair loss, mainly in the growth phase. It is typically temporary (unless the follicles are damaged).

Hair shedding due to an illness such as COVID-19 typically improves three to six months after recovery. It’s possible for teenagers to experience patchy hair loss, thinning hair, or pattern hair loss depending on the underlying cause. If hair loss is caused by an underlying medical condition, you may experience a number of other symptoms along with hair loss. "When I experienced telogen effluvium, combined with alopecia, my hair was falling out in clumps," says Nosheen Choudhry, founder of Nosheen Hair Oil. Many people who have hereditary hair loss continue to lose hair without treatment. A woman who inherits the genes for hereditary hair loss may notice gradual thinning.

It can smooth out deep wrinkles and lines, but the results aren’t permanent. If ringworm does not heal by itself, a doctor may prescribe an antifungal medication such as griseofulvin. Treatment for this condition depends on the cause but may include a topical solution of minoxidil (Rogaine). For this test, they gently pull on a chunk of your hair to see how many strands come out.

Since there are 100,000 hair follicles — or more — on each person’s scalp, the loss of 100 or so hair strands a day doesn’t make a big difference in appearance. When the body sheds significantly more hairs every day, a person has excessive hair shedding. The medical term for this condition is telogen effluvium. Hair loss is a regular part of the hair growth cycle, and shedding a certain amount of hair each day is completely normal. The human scalp typically houses around 100,000 hair follicles, each with its own growth cycle.

But when they produce too much, it can lead to symptoms like disrupted menstrual cycles, acne, and hair thinning. Let’s look at a wide range of potential causes of hair loss in teenagers. The majority of people will experience some degree of hair loss throughout their life.

Your doctor may use a lighted microscope to look for any hair shaft disorders. The cost (often thousands of dollars) is prohibitive for most people. Most of us shed hair a little at a time — pretty much all the time. You'll soon start receiving the latest Mayo Clinic health information you requested in your inbox.

A healthcare provider might recommend using minoxidil (Rogaine®). You can purchase the 2% or 5% solution over the counter (OTC). However, you have to follow directions exactly and use the product indefinitely.

If traction alopecia continues, a person may develop patches of hair loss and thinning of the hair. If a person has anagen effluvium due to undergoing chemotherapy, cooling the scalp during the procedure may help. Hair will often grow back within 3–6 months after stopping chemotherapy. The medication works by prolonging the growth phase of hair, giving your hair more time to grow out. Hair usually regrows when your hormones get back to normal. Your hair can regain its usual fullness 6 to 9 months after childbirth.

How is hair loss diagnosed?

Someone poisoned with arsenic, thallium, mercury, boric acid, and lithium can lose hair as a side effect. Ingesting large amounts of warfarin, an ingredient in rat poison, can also lead to hair loss. Taking toxic amounts of vitamin A and selenium can also lead to hair loss. In males, hair starts thinning near the top of the head and forms a receding hairline (creating an "M" shape). In females, the hair becomes thin all over without a receding hairline.

The Catagen Phase (Transition)

These dermatologists' tips tell you how to protect your skin. Hair loss is one of the most common side effects of chemotherapy. Alopecia areata affects up to 6.8 million people in the U.S.

Symptoms of hair loss in women

Medically referred to as telogen effluvium, this condition signifies an abnormality in the hair-shedding process. Radiation therapy can also cause hair loss by damaging the hair follicles. The radiation dose can determine how much hair is lost or how permanent the hair loss is. Typically hair loss starts a few weeks after treatment. Hair usually begins to grow back a few months after treatment.

Stress and certain health conditions may cause increased shedding. Signs of hair loss and hair loss conditions vary between men, women and children. However, people of any age or sex may notice more hair collecting in their hairbrush or in the shower drain. The catagen phase is a short transitional phase that signals the end of the active growth phase.

Symptoms and Causes

For instance, do you know the signs of hair loss in women? Can you tell the difference between hair loss that's temporary and hair loss that needs treatment? Other vitamins and minerals may also play a role in hair loss. People can speak with a healthcare professional to determine whether they have a vitamin deficiency that may be causing hair loss.

Medication

They can help you determine if there’s a medical cause leading to hair loss or if it’s caused by genetic factors. Hair loss caused by a thyroid condition usually appears as a uniform thinning across your scalp. Hair loss is most common in people with severe or prolonged thyroid disease. Talk to a doctor if your hair loss comes with fatigue, muscle weakness, weight loss or gain, or dry skin. Your hair should grow back with treatment, but it may take several months. Your doctor might be able to switch your medicine if this happens to you.

But hair loss is quite common in females, affecting more than 50% of women at some point in their lives and approximately 80% of women by age 80. The most significant cause of hair loss in women is female pattern hair loss, or androgenetic alopecia, which affects about 30 million women in the U.S. Some causes of hair loss in teenagers can be stopped and potentially reversed.

An excessive amount of hair fallout is known as telogen effluvium. This can have many causes, including medical conditions, physical and psychological causes, and certain medications. In most cases, telogen effluvium is temporary and resolves without treatment. However, you may need to work with your healthcare provider to find and treat any underlying conditions that are causing your hair to fall out. Traction alopecia is the result of environmental factors, such as wearing your hair in tight hairstyles, Agbai says. Telogen effluvium refers to the excessive shedding of hair follicles, and it occurs when hair follicles prematurely skip to the end of the hair growth cycle, she adds.

A dermatologist also can find the cause or causes and tell you what you can expect. Effective treatments options are available for many types of hair loss. If you have hair loss, your hair will not grow until the cause stops. For example, people who undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatments often lose a lot of hair. If the stressor stays with you, however, hair shedding can be long lived. People who are constantly under a lot of stress can have long-term excessive hair shedding.

Talk with your doctor about your concerns and the potential causes for your hair loss. These medications affect people differently and may not cause hair loss in everyone. Learn more about the medications that can cause hair loss. Perhaps one of the most common hormone-related causes for hair loss is a thyroid problem. Both too much thyroid hormone (hyperthyroidism) and too little (hypothyroidism) can lead to hair loss. Treating the thyroid disorder can often reverse the hair loss.

This involves carefully removing several small sections of skin for laboratory testing. Traction alopecia results from too much pressure and tension on the hair, often from wearing it in tight styles, like braids, ponytails, or buns. These patches, sometimes called a kerion, can cause scarring as well. For the purposes of this article, we use “male” and “female” to refer to a person’s sex assigned at birth. Use these professionally produced online infographics, posters, and videos to help others find and prevent skin cancer. If you want to diminish a noticeable scar, know these 10 things before having laser treatment.

Having excessive hair fall out, or shed, can be upsetting and stressful. However, it is common, and in most cases, it is also temporary. Other causes, like genetic hair loss, have no known cure and will likely progress with time but can be slowed down with treatment. Here are some of the potential causes of hair loss in teenagers. Ok, it’s science-y but very cool, basically “each hair follicle on our scalp undergoes three stages of a life cycle,” explains Dr Wong. Excessive washing, bleaching, brushing, and heat styling can also have an impact on how much of your hair falls out every day.

Beyond that, age, hormones, stress, and even the way you style your hair can lead to hair loss. That said, there are a number of possible medications and treatments for hair loss caused by female-pattern baldness and other alopecias. Losing around 50–100 hairs daily through combing, brushing, washing, and styling is normal. When excessive hair shedding occurs, it's known as telogen effluvium. Someone with telogen effluvium can lose 300–500 hairs daily.

It is typical for a certain amount of hair — usually around 100 strands — to fall out every day. Below are some frequently asked questions about hair loss. A doctor may recommend dietary changes and supplements to treat a nutritional deficiency. Your doctor gently scrapes skin samples from your scalp and sends them to a lab for testing.

Not everyone will lose their hair during treatment, while others may experience hair thinning or complete hair loss. Hair loss may affect the scalp, pubic hair, arm and leg hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes. Male and female pattern baldness are the main cause of hair loss. However, lifestyle factors, such as frequent tight hairstyles, and medical conditions, such as alopecia, can also cause hair loss.

Film Review: The Legend Of Hell House 1973 HNN

legend of hell house

He also played the rebel scientist Doctor Jonathan Willoway in the seventies Bermuda Triangle science fiction series The Fantastic Journey. In A Bug’s Life (1998), one of his final contributions to motion pictures, he provides the voice of Mister Soil. This journey into a terrifying haunted house is one of metaphysics, exploring how disbelief, in many forms, can work against oneself. Fischer decides to confront the house, and Ann accompanies him despite her misgivings. Deciphering Tanner's dying clue, Fischer deduces that Belasco is the sole entity haunting the house, masquerading as many.

Aging millionaire Rudolf Deutsch wants to be assured of the existence of life after death. He offers a group of parapsychologists and mediums £100,000 each if they will investigate the notoriously haunted Belasco mansion, which has been nicknamed Hell House. A previous attempt to explore the house sent all but one of the investigating team insane. A new team is assembled under parapsychological researcher Chris Barrett.

Both eschew the standard clanking chains and headless ghosts and aim for more cerebral places. Both also owe something to the psychological ghosts of Henry James’s The Turn of the Screw (1898) and the suggestion that apparitions exists somewhere between the real, repression and what the ghostbusters want to believe. A team consisting of a physicist, his wife, a young female psychic and the only survivor of the previous visit are sent to the notorious Hell House to prove/disprove survival after death. Previous visitors have either been killed or gone mad, and it is up to the team to survive a full week in isolation, and solve the mystery of the Hell House. It is to both of the films’ credit that they only partially resemble each other. A Hell house, like a conventional haunted-house attraction, is a space set aside for actors to frighten patrons with gruesome exhibits and scenes, presented as a series of short vignettes with a narrated guide.

Facts about the movie Motel Hell

The script, written by Matheson himself, masterfully combines elements of exorcism, possession, and psychic phenomena to create a truly chilling narrative. The production design deserves special mention, as it successfully brings the haunted mansion to life, enveloping the audience in a world of darkness and dread. These words open up quite possibly one of the most soul-stirring haunted house movies ever made; a PG-rated classic from 1973 that never seems to get its due when discussing horror films in the subgenre, and one that nails the atmospheric requirements flawlessly. It’s been five decades since the release of The Legend of Hell House, and it deserves celebration. In conclusion, “The Legend of Hell House” is a haunting tale of supernatural terror that stands the test of time. Its expertly crafted atmosphere, memorable performances, and thought-provoking storyline make it a true gem in the horror genre.

Now four more people are challenged to enter it and investigate if survival after death exists... The external shots of the house were filmed at Wykehurst Park, West Sussex. Mr. Deutsch's mansion in the opening sequence is Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. In 1973, the novel was made into a film The Legend of Hell House, starring Pamela Franklin, Roddy McDowall, Clive Revill, and Gayle Hunnicutt.

Genres

John Hough’s The Legend of Hell House is an atmospheric horror thriller that slowly builds to an unbearable level of tension in the third act. The picture is steeped in Gothic atmosphere and features a terrifying supernatural element that comes to a head in a mind-blowing conclusion. The movie follows a team of investigators who are tasked with unraveling the mysteries of the Belasco House, a notoriously haunted mansion. As they spend a week in the house, they encounter supernatural phenomena and must confront the malevolent spirits within. There is much similarity between The Legend of Hell House and Robert Wise’s The Haunting (1963), not the least of which is the seemingly deliberate similarity of titles between the film and the Shirley Jackson novel The Haunting of Hill House (1959) from which The Haunting was taken. Both films feature a team of four – a parapsychologist and two mediums – conducting an investigation into a haunted house.

He taunts Belasco, declaring him a "son of a whore", and that he was no "roaring giant", but instead more likely a "funny little dried-up bastard" who fooled everyone about his alleged height. Even as objects begin to hurl themselves at Fischer, he continues to defy the entity, and insults Belasco's physical stature. Fischer then concentrates, and a stained-glass partition in the chapel shatters, revealing a hidden door.

Adaptations

(As a result, The Legend of Hell House comes out as a far more intelligent and subtly effective film than The Exorcist). Clive Revill, the physicist, who attempts to clear the house of its evil, Pamela Franklin, the mental medium and Roddy McDowall the survivor of the previous incursion, are all first-rate. Fans of "The Legend of Hell House" and haunted house stories in general should have no qualms about picking up a copy.

Facts about the movie Hell Night

In 1971, prolific horror author and screenwriter Richard Matheson successfully created his own take on Shirley Jackson’s tale, adapted his own novel to the big screen and introduced us to The Legend Of Hell House (1973). Possessed by the malevolent spirit, Tanner attempts to destroy it, thinking that it will harm the spirits in the house, but she is prevented from doing serious damage. She enters the chapel, "the unholy heart" of the house, in an attempt to warn the spirits, but she is crushed by a falling crucifix. Fischer wanders the house afterwards, attempting to sense psychic energy; in astonishment, he declares the place "completely clear!" But violent psychic activity soon resumes, and Barrett is killed. There’s a particular scene when the group enters the house that belongs on the all-time best horror camera shots list.

The creep factor was all brought together with a chilling score by Delia Derbyshire and Brian Hodgson, the duo that created the original theme music for Doctor Who. On the whole, The Legend of Hell House is a visually striking film with no shortage of atmosphere. Keen direction, a strong screenplay, and a standout performance by Roddy McDowall make this feature a must-see for anyone who has yet to experience the film.

Her husband arrives a moment later to witness her advances to Fischer. He is resentful, and spurns Fischer's warnings that the house is affecting Ann. Stricken by the accusation, Fischer drops his psychic shields, but he is immediately attacked. The palatial home of the obviously stinkingly rich Mr Deutsch (Roland Culver), who commissions the investigation, is Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire. The grand estate is also seen in Stanley Kubrick masterpiece Barry Lyndon, The Young Victoria, Kenneth Branagh’s 1996 film of Hamlet, the big-screen version of 60s TV series The Avengers, Shekhar Kapur’s The Four Feathers, with Heath Ledger, and (as the Italian palazzo) the 2015 Bond movie Spectre.

The house is called "Hell House" due to the horrible acts of blasphemy and perversion that occurred there under the silent influence and supervision of Emeric Belasco. Meanwhile, there are other mysteries to be found in Hell House, such as the supposed murder of Emeric Belasco's son, Daniel Myron Belasco, and the puzzle as to why a majority of people who enter the home are dead by the end of their visit. This week’s pick is one of my favorite haunted house films and certainly one of the most underrated.

The Legend of Hell House emerges far more strongly as a story than The Haunting did. Legendary genre screenwriter Richard Matheson has simplified his original book Hell House (1971). Primarily, Matheson pares down the book’s shock excesses, something that would have brought the film into the domain of The Exorcist (1973), which came out six months later the same year.

The idea that the spirits’ connections to the house were caused due to the location being used for debauchery (drugs, alcohol, sex, etc.) along with vampirism and murder, was a great move in giving the location its own personality. But, The Legend of Hell House’s true greatness comes from its story. The ideas of scientific facts vs. faith, or believers vs. non-believers hadn’t really been explored much in film, and while we as the audience could see what was happening in the film, the actors were so into their roles, that the non-believers were almost convincing. There were so many shots and ideas that were reminiscent of William Friedkin’s The Exorcist, which wouldn’t be released for another six months.

Ann is subjected to erotic visions late at night, which seem linked to her lackluster sex life. She goes downstairs and, in an apparent trance, disrobes and demands sex from Fischer. He strikes her, snapping her out of the trance, and she returns to herself, horrified and ashamed. A second incident occurs a day or so later after she has become drunk.

In addition to competent direction and a well-written screenplay, the film also benefits from a strong cast. He needn’t say much about the life-changing impact of his last visit to the Belasco House for the viewer to know it still haunts him. Ben usually speaks in a near-whisper, with a monotone delivery; giving the impression he’s a hollowed-out shell of his former self. However, it does draw inspiration from real-life haunted house legends and paranormal experiences. May feel slow to those accustomed to the hyper horror movies of today. The house is believed to be haunted by the victims of Belasco's twisted and sadistic desires.
